About Us
Our Story
For more than five decades, the Yarnell Regional Community Center (YRCC) has been a place where neighbors help neighbors. What began in 1975 through the determination and compassion of three local women has grown into a vital community resource serving Yarnell, Peeples Valley, Wilhoit, Congress, Skull Valley, and Kirkland. Since moving into its current home in 1986 and becoming a nonprofit organization in 1988, YRCC has remained dedicated to strengthening lives across our rural region.
Today, YRCC offers a wide range of programs designed to support overall well-being. While many people know us for Meals on Wheels, which delivers over 12,000 meals across a service area covering more than 400 square miles, each year to homebound and vulnerable seniors, our mission extends far beyond providing food. Every meal represents a wellness check, a friendly face, and a reminder that someone cares. Our commitment to never turn away a person in need helps ensure that all community members can live with dignity, independence, and connection.
Through our More Than a Meal initiative, we provide opportunities for healthy living, social engagement, and lifelong learning. Our Mid-Day Café serves thousands of meals annually in a welcoming environment where friendships are built and maintained, and our recently launched breakfasts and soft-serve ice cream have quickly become favorites, allowing members of the community to gather and enjoy each other's company while enjoying a meal or an ice cream cone on the hot summer days.
Community is at the core of everything we do. YRCC is powered by an extraordinary team of over 60 volunteers. While the board helps to guide us, the staff help us keep operating daily, it is really our volunteers who drive what we do every day, elevating what it means to be a community here. The YRCC is truly neighbors helping neighbors. We also work alongside local partners to expand access to healthcare services, nutrition resources, and other forms of support. Our popular thrift store, known for its unique treasures and remarkably affordable prices, is a big part of what we do too, providing an affordable shopping experience for everyone in our community.
Even our logo reflects that "neighbors helping neighbors" spirit while also embodying both the beauty of the Yarnell area and the values that guide our work. The two deer symbolize a caring community where neighbors look out for one another. One deer feeds peacefully while the other stands watch, representing the belief that when we work together and support each other, everyone has the opportunity not only to get by, but to thrive.
Thanks to grants, donations, fundraisers, and countless volunteer hours, YRCC continues to honor the vision of its founders by creating a stronger, healthier, and more connected community for all.
